Recently we’ve come across phishing and scam messages circulating regarding the renewal of domain names. Seravo’s customers may also have received contacts and fake invoices sent by scammers, which should not be paid.
What is a domain?
A domain is the address typed into the browser’s address bar that opens your website, such as seravo.com.
If you have recently been contacted regarding the renewal or registration of your domain, treat the message with extreme caution and do not pay the received invoice. Contact us if you are unsure of what to do.
What To Do
- Do not respond to the message.
- Do not make rushed decisions.
- Do not click on links in the messages.
- Verify the authenticity of the message.
Do not respond to the message. If you receive a message or a call claiming that your domain is about to expire, or that a third party is registering domains resembling your company name, treat it with caution. Do not reply to the messages, and hang up any such calls.
Do not make decisions or pay invoices in a hurry. Online scammers try to pressure you into making quick decisions and create a false sense of urgency. When rushing, it is easier to fall for a scam. Do not make agreements or pay invoices in a hurry.
Do not click on links in messages or share your information. If you receive a message asking you to renew your company’s domain, or making other claims related to it, do not click on any links until you have verified the authenticity of the message. Do not enter any of your information on websites that open through the links.
Verify the authenticity of the message. If you are not entirely sure where your domain is hosted, who manages it, or when its registration is due for renewal, you can turn to us. Seravo will look into the status of your domain and investigate whether the received message is authentic and if any action is required.
Transfer Your Domain to Seravo
