As part of our premium hosting, we at Seravo make sure that our services remain up-to-date and secure. This of course includes updates to server software. Here are a couple of current updates at Seravo that website developers in particular should be aware of!
PageSpeed Module Deprecation
Previously at Seravo, web developers could enable the PageSpeed Nginx module for website speed optimization and its automatization. The Nginx module is open source, but its development was discontinued in 2020 and is now deprecated, and the module is no longer available at Seravo.
If your site is hosted at Seravo and your site had PageSpeed configurations enabled, no further action is needed. You can continue optimizing your site normally – more tips for optimizations and tools are available on our blog. Seravo’s premium hosting service for WordPress is also optimized and built specifically for WordPress, and our service is designed to be fast out of the box.
Upgrading to Ubuntu 22
Site environments at Seravo will be upgraded to Ubuntu version 22 during February 2025. The upgrade will be rolled out during reboots of the production environments of the sites.
In particular, the update will affect the versions of software available on the server. The most relevant changes in this upgrade are:
As part of the hosting service, Seravo takes care of server software. This update does not require any special action from our customers. However, you can contact our customer service if you have any questions about the update.
Seravo keeps your WordPress site up to date. Our hosting service runs regular, tested updates to WordPress and the plugins. We also take care of critical security updates as soon as the fix for a security vulnerability becomes available.
